Throughout my career in nursing and psychology, I have undertaken many different roles, experienced big life transitions, and learned how to draw on my life experience, in combination with my education and professional training, to support those I am caring for. My own lived experience as a medical professional has guided my training and my approach to supporting clients navigating both first-hand & vicarious trauma, stress & burnout, depression & anxiety, self-esteem, and relationship issues.

I am passionate about working with individuals and couples who are navigating the impacts of infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and loss. Throughout my 12yr nursing career specializing in labour and delivery, I witnessed the cycles of joy and trauma that accompany these big moments and major life changes. I hold a unique understanding for the ways that these deeply personal and intimate experiences stir up a range of feelings, including anger, pain, isolation, hopelessness, and overwhelm. My work with both individuals and couples who are navigating these life events includes supporting them in exploring and understanding the impacts of these experiences on themselves and their relationship, processing trauma, navigating grief, and learning new tools to support them in the next phase of life.

Having been a health care worker for many years, I know firsthand the intensity and demanding nature of a career in the medical field; and how challenging it can be to compartmentalize and separate professional identity from self identity. When your career is centered around taking care of others, it can feel foreign to prioritize taking care of yourself, and it’s typically you and your relationships that suffer. This lens allows me to support folks in the medical field by helping them process traumatic work-related experiences and reconnecting with the people, hobbies and interests that remind them of who they are beyond their work.

I also enjoy supporting young adults navigating the confusion and challenges associated with managing the responsibilities of the present and the uncertainty of what future may hold, all while trying to enjoy their life. Transitions like entering the workforce upon graduation, working a first full time job, changing friend groups and establishing healthy relationships are complex and, sometimes, overwhelming. My goal is to support my clients in integrating the identity, role, and responsibility shifts with self-compassion and tangible tools to make these transitions smoother.

In my clinical practice, I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and my couples’ work is supplemented by training in the Gottman Method. My therapeutic lens is informed by feminist and multicultural perspectives, which recognize the many factors that shape us as humans living in a complicated world. Finally, I bring a wealth of lived experiences from my nursing career, living in various rural and urban settings both in and outside of Canada, and, of course, my counselling training.

I know how difficult it can be to share your most vulnerable experiences with someone, so I work hard to ensure that you feel heard and seen throughout our work together. Your life and experiences are yours alone; I don’t consider myself an expert on your life and will always centre your self-knowledge. I am honoured to walk alongside you in your therapeutic journey and can’t wait to learn about you and from you in our sessions.

My approach to therapy starts with genuine curiosity about you as a whole person, not just the symptoms that brought you in. I care about understanding your story, your culture, your environment, and your strengths. With over four years of experience in mental health and neurorehabilitation, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals, couples, and families through complex and personal challenges. I’m especially drawn to working with adults navigating mood concerns, relationship stress, identity issues, major life transitions, and acquired brain injuries.

When I work with couples, my focus is on creating a space that feels non-blaming, and where both partners feel heard and respected. I help couples slow down the cycle of conflict, explore patterns, and build practical tools they can actually use outside of sessions. Whether partners are feeling disconnected, stuck in conflict, or weighed down by stressors like illness, cultural differences, or big life changes, I’m passionate about helping them rebuild their relationship and understanding.

Another meaningful area to me is working with adults experiencing brain injury, neurological conditions, and related cognitive or emotional changes. I’ve seen how disorienting it can be when memory, mood, attention, or even your sense of self begins to shift. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed or unsure of who they are after injury or illness. My neurorehabilitation background enables me to bridge emotional support with coping tools by taking a collaborative and practical approach. Together, we can make sense of what’s happening and develop realistic tools for navigating everyday life. Additionally, I work with individuals living with chronic pain, offering a supportive space to navigate the emotional impact of long-term pain and helping clients build practical coping strategies that support their well-being.

I also bring a deep understanding of how culture, family expectations, migration, and systemic factors can shape mental health and relationships. I take a multicultural and identity-affirming lens in my work supporting those who feel caught between cultures, struggle to feel understood in traditional therapy spaces, or want a therapist who acknowledges that everyone’s experience is unique. My approach honours difference while helping clients build clarity, self-trust, and emotional resilience.

My therapeutic style is trauma-informed, attachment-aware, and grounded in both cognitive and emotion-focused strategies. I draw from strengths-based approaches and incorporate psychoeducation and skill-building exercises tailored to the unique needs of my clients when helpful. At the same time, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Therapy works best when it feels collaborated and tailored, so I adapt to the person sitting in front of me.

Above all, I want you to feel seen. I strive to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to move forward at your own pace. Whether you face personal change, relationship issues, or challenges navigating injury or identity, you do not have to do it alone. If this resonates with you, I’d be honoured to connect and see if working together feels like the right fit.

Many people come to therapy feeling ashamed for struggling, convinced they should be coping better by now. Anxiety, overwhelm, ADHD, and self-criticism can make it hard to be kind to yourself. This is a space where those struggles are met with understanding and support that fits with how your mind works.

For clients with ADHD, therapy often involves more than learning skills, it’s about undoing years of feeling “too much,” “not enough,” or constantly behind. As a certified ADHD Clinical Service Provider, I will support you in understanding your ADHD with compassion and making sense of emotional overwhelm, rumination, and motivation challenges. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been navigating symptoms for years, I am here to support your success and help you identify your strengths to start working with yourself, rather than against.

I have a special interest in supporting students navigating the pressures of academic life. Juggling school responsibilities alongside social, family, and work expectations can be draining. I will give you tools to cope with academic demands, explore your identity, needs and values, and create a space that fosters the resilience you need to manage both the student-life and life beyond study.

My work also extends to men who may find it difficult to talk about their mental health or ask for help. Many men experience anxiety, stress, emotional overload, or shame while feeling pressure to cope alone or “stay strong”. This work focuses on understanding what is going on beneath the surface by building emotional awareness, and developing practical ways to manage stress, relationships and self-expectations.

I don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” approaches to counselling and use an eclectic approach, tailoring my methods to suit your distinct needs. With 6 years of experience in the mental health field, I primarily draw from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and strengths-based approaches. For those searching for a unique therapy experience, or who have felt limited by traditional talk therapy, I bring in Art therapy informed interventions. Creative activities engage a different part of the brain and offer new entry points to experiences and emotions which can bring deeper awareness and a lighter, more spacious feel to therapy.

If you’ve been carrying anxiety, self-doubt, or constant pressure for a long time, it makes sense that you’re tired. My intention is that therapy be a place to set some of that weight down, even if you’re not sure where to start. I would be honored to work alongside you towards meaningful self-understanding and self-acceptance.

I am a Registered Psychologist with over 10 years of experience supporting people in the mental health field. My practice is focused on helping individuals and couples create meaningful, fulfilling, and emotionally safe relationships with themselves and others. I work from an attachment lens, honoring our human need for emotional safety and belonging. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Hakomi (a mindfulness-based somatic modality) to help clients acknowledge and understand themselves and their needs. When appropriate and helpful I also draw from Narrative, CBT, and Gottman Method interventions to best support my clients.

My work with individuals helps people foster a sense of safety in their body and trust in their ability to regulate emotions, effectively manage conflict and express their needs. In relational work, these skills are the building blocks for an attuned relationship. I help couples get to the root of their issues so they can find their way back to the same team.

I am interested in building compassionate and lasting relationships with clients who are ready to make meaningful change in their lives. I am passionate about people and accepting of relationships of all shapes and sizes. Nikki works with adult individuals and couples.

I respect that everyone experiences life differently and comes to therapy with their own story. At times, the voice that tells the story is self-criticizing and judgmental, making us feel powerless. My hope for of our work together is that you come back to yourself and recognize your inherent strength and capacity for growth. I will meet you in a space of authenticity and vulnerability as we explore your inner world and help you feel more connected to your mind and body.

I currently work with adults, and couples. My passions include anxiety, people-pleasing, boundary setting, self-esteem/confidence, shame and guilt, stress and burnout, emotional regulation, school and work related challenges, post-secondary student life, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.

Working from a trauma-informed and integrative approach, I draw primarily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP is a somatic, relational approach to processing emotions). Additionally, I am Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed and integrate mindfulness and compassion-focused practices, as well as aspects of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) into my work with clients. With couples, I draw on both Gottman Couples Therapy and Emotionally-Focused Therapy.

My practice is focused on helping you develop a stronger connection to self, others, and the world around you. I believe in your capacity for growth and trust that you know what is best for you. Together, we will determine goals that are important and realistic as I support you to live in alignment with your values. I will ask curious questions to help you develop new insights, offer hope, and listen between your words to find strength and resilience in your story. All of you is welcome in this space, and it is a privilege to join you.

I hold a deep commitment to supporting neurodivergent adults, as well as clients experiencing anxiety & depression, body image concerns, perfectionism, shame, burnout, emotional dysregulation, and life transitions.

As an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider, I approach counselling with a neurodivergent-affirming perspective that embraces the unique strengths and identities of my clients. I focus on offering support, accommodations, and strategies that empower you to thrive authentically as yourself. We can explore what your neurodivergence means for you, embrace the range of your emotions, attend to sensory abilities, process experiences, and celebrate achievements, while addressing challenges that are often amplified in environments shaped by neurotypical norms. This may include attending to the chronic exhaustion and overwhelm that can accompany living in a world that often feels too loud, too fast, and in which parts of you feel persistently disconnected and misunderstood.

I draw on a blend of evidence-based therapeutic modalities tailored to meet each client’s specific needs. This includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness and Somatic Techniques. By integrating these diverse approaches, I offer an individualized experience that promotes growth and lasting change.

Building an authentic therapeutic alliance is at the heart of my work. It would be an honor to provide a supportive space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued.

Taking a holistic, body-mind, and systems perspective, I help you figure out your unique path, whether you’re looking to achieve specific outcomes, or work toward deep healing. Having supported a diverse client base through 15+ years of practicing psychology in Canada and abroad, I have narrowed my focus to trauma, stress and burnout, depression and anxiety, career/workplace concerns, and relationship challenges.
